Week 7

Welcome back to our blog for week 7. We will be talking about what we have learned from our activity in week 7 which is about product development using the app, Fusion360. The activity that we had to do was make a keyring. From the videos and tutorials that were prepared for this, we have to try and apply the techniques learned from them to make this keyring.

Firstly, we have to create a sketch of our base by setting the given dimensions, making the holes and offset the edges of the keyring to curve the edges so that it is not sharp.

Secondly, we placed an inner outline that will later be extruded inwards

Thirdly, we placed an outline of our name, an example which is mine, Rusydaan. It will later be extruded as well to form the final product.

Lastly, to produce the final product which is the keyring, we have to extrude the inner outline, the name outline and the keyring hole. We have to extrude negatively for the inner outline and the keyring hole to give it depth and to make a hole respectively. Extrude the name outline and the outline of keyring to the same dimensions to produce the final product.

Overall, it was a fun experience to use and learn the app, fusion360 to sketch and use the various tools to help develop a product. Eventually, I hope that when the Covid-19 restrictions lifts up, we are able to use the 3d printers and 3d print any products that we want and apply what we have learned from this lesson.
