Week 3:

During this week, we were taught how to use SCAMPER to help us create new ideas to create new ideas. Afterwards, we had to use feasibility analysis to screen out any impractical ideas in our SCAMPER. Lastly, we had to use COWS to find out which idea is the best to use for our product.

1st Activity: Using of SCAMPER

What is SCAMPER?

Using SCAMPER to generate ideas:

Figure 1:UPPHETTA Coffee/tea maker ( IKEA, 2021)

Figure 2: T2 Teamaker able to drain from bottom ( T2, 2021)

For figure 1, it was used to come up with the idea of creating a vortex to collect the tea leaf.

For figure 2, it was used to come up with the idea of using a stopwatch to act as an automated lever to release the tea from the teapot.

Activity 2: Idea Elimination

Idea elimination helps us to decide which idea would be the most feasible. By using a feasibility analysis table, it helped to guide us on which idea/product would be the most viable. Thus, we decided to eliminate till there are 4 ideas left which are:

  • Fast cooling tea make

ree
  • Air lift pump

ree
  • Combine a timer to automate dripping of tea

ree
  • Using a vortex remove the tea leaves

ree

What is COWS matrix?

With idea 3 scoring the highest, as it is easy to use, maintain, and constructing and slightly durable. Therefore, we have decided to go with Idea 3 (Tea maker with a timer). Even though it is costly and difficult to obtain the parts, the pros outweigh the cons, it is still an improved product that would help to make thai milk tea more convenient.
